Last weekend, the first Star Art Festival with the theme of "inclusive art" held a very special performance at the Beijing 77 theatre, the essence of "dance wheel" brought by the famous American Dance Troupe. Such a special group performance has brought people profound shock and Reflection on life.

The dance on the wheelchair moved the audience

The first starry sky Art Festival in 2019, with the theme of "barrier free art", is composed of four parts, i.e. China UK barrier free art forum, performance led by disabled artists, symbiosis and integration workshop, and original painting exhibition of mentally disabled children.

On October 19, at the 77 theatre, there was "the essence of dancing in a round" brought by the American Dance Troupe. Five carefully arranged works, together, form a wheelchair dance full of vitality. Among them, there are not only disabled dancers in wheelchairs, but also professional dancers who are completely healthy and normal. No matter whether they have a sound body or not, they all use their own body to express their artistic energy, which makes the audience moved. The most striking is Mary, the art director of the art troupe. She is not young yet, her body has been deformed due to long-term wheelchair use. But when she dances, every move has confidence and pride. " I want to dance all my life, "she said. Since I was three years old, I have practiced dancing with my brothers with crutches. My mother recorded all this and has always supported me to be an independent individual. "

The reporter learned that Mary's first public appearance was in 1980. She danced in a wheelchair on a variety show in the United States, revealing the history of disabled dance on the stage. After that, Mary founded a dance troupe to spread her artistic ideas to more than 5 million audiences around the world through stage performance, campus training, resident creation, master class, workshops and other forms. As the world's first professional wheelchair dancer, Mary said, "once I have the chance to dance, I don't want to stop dancing. This is the most free experience of my life. For wheelchair users, the stage brings a lot of freedom of movement, speed and flexibility in barrier free space - this is my dream. "

The superb performances of these dancers from the United States have deeply influenced the Chinese audience. Li Hui, a Chinese disabled dancer in the first row of the wheelchair area, couldn't help performing a piece of his own choreographed dance "wild goose". The exchange of disabled artists between the two countries makes the scene more touching and warm. Li Hui used to be a professional dancer. In 2012, his dance troupe also went to London on behalf of China to participate in an auxiliary performance of the London Olympic Games. But at the end of the performance, Li Hui's lumbar vertebrae were broken by accident and his spine was injured, resulting in complete loss of motor ability and consciousness of the lower body. After the injury, the sad Li Hui gave up the idea of continuing to dance. But with his mother's encouragement and support, Li Hui choreographed his first dance "wild goose" in his wheelchair, which expressed his love for life and resistance to fate with songs and dances. After that, he also set up a dance troupe with disabled dancers as the main body, hoping to convey the power of art to everyone through dance, so that everyone can face the future life more actively.
